Disgraced New York Governor Elliott Spitzer was linked through a federal affidavit to arranging a meeting with a call girl. Reportedly spending $4,300 for her services and spending as much as $80,000 on high priced prostitutes.

But you don’t have to go to New York to find high-end “escort” services. There are plenty of  offers in Houston as well.

“For us it's $4,000 to $6,000 for an overnight,” one local escort service quoted 11 News over the phone.

The woman 11 News spoke to, said she is based out of Los Angeles, but books girls with clients in Houston.

“I actually work for the biggest company in the country,” she said.

But really, would clients in Houston pay that much for an overnight stay?

“Oh yeah, they do that all the time,” the escort representative told 11 News.

Cops agree too.

“There's quite a bit money involved in (the) sex industry.” Said Houston police Capt. Glenn Yorek. “While $4,300 would be a little much, I wouldn't say it's impossible.”

Yorek says big events like the Super Bowl and even the rodeo bring in another element looking to make a buck.

“These are organized folks. Pimps, they know that they'll bring their girls from out of state to our area because they know that week they're going to make a whole lot of money,” said Yorek.

Over the years of HPD making prostitution busts, they have seen all kinds of Johns, from all walks of life.

“You run the gamut, all the way from police person who applied for the police department, which is what happened yesterday, all the way through teachers and officials,” he said.

Joining that list now, the former governor of New York.

The escort agency woman 11 News spoke too said that they get a lot of calls from people in hotels in Houston. Prostitution, of course, is illegal here, but it appears the agencies adopt a “don’t ask, don’t tell policy” with the girls they send out.

The booker said she is now allowed to ask the girls what happened on their dates.

The agencies also claim that the clients are paying to spend time with the girls and anything else that happens after that is between two consenting adults. Law enforcement officials though counter that despite the disclaimer, it is still prostitution and is illegal.
