Galveston fills up with tourists on Memorial Day weekend.
The spring season kicked off in Galveston Saturday, marking the return of bikinis, surf boards, lifeguards and volleyball to the island’s most popular beach parks.
Sunrise Beach, Sandcastle Beach, Seashell Beach, East Beach and Stewart Beach were ready to welcome sun worshippers just in time for Spring Break.
“The Park Board’s Beach Parks are all in great shape, and we’re ready for the warm weather crowds,” said Brandon McDermott, Park Manager for Stewart Beach.
Beach park entry fees are $8 per vehicle. If you plan to head to the shore often, season passes are available for $25.
The passes can be purchased at the beach parks, the Park Board of Trustees office and the Galveston Island Visitor Center. They’re valid through Dec. 31, 2008.
