The shooting reportedly took place at a parking lot near Craig Washington's law offices in downtown Houston.

A former congressman from Houston is being accused of firing upon a pair of high school students. However, he tells police that he was shooting at people trespassing on his property.

The shooting occurred Tuesday night near the law offices of Craig Washington, a former congressman and state senator. Washington told police that he shot at two suspects, who allegedly were trespassing on property he owns near his offices in the 2300 block of Caroline in downtown Houston.

Former Congressman Craig Washington is accused of opening fire on a pair of teenagers.

Police said they also got a call from some high school students claiming they had been shot at as they were searching for a parking spot. The teens told police they were pulling out of a parking lot, after deciding against leaving the car there.

That is when they said they were fired upon. The Camaro the pair was in had a couple of bullet holes in it.

Washington was out of town Thursday, but his attorney told 11 News that she was aware of the incident.
