Amtrak train slams into 18-wheeler, injuring two

HOUSTON -- Two people are in the hospital Saturday morning after a train slammed into an 18-wheeler in northeast Harris County.
It happened at Beaumont Highway at Pineland.
Authorities said the big rig was stopped on the tracks by a red light when it was struck by the Amtrak train.
The train was derailed and the 18-wheeler flipped on its side.
The train was carrying about 50 passengers.
No one was seriously hurt but a passenger was taken to the hospital.
The truck driver also was hospitalized with minor injuries.
