Fans react to Roger Clemens news conference on Monday.

Roger Clemens denies he ever used steroids, but do Houstonians believe him?

11 News talked to a few fans at a sports bar Monday, and they seemed convinced.

“I trust what he says. I believe in Clemens,” J.T. Tillman said.

“I believe him,” Ashley Warner said.

Of course, their opinions might be swayed by the fact that Houston is the seven-time Cy Young Award winner’s hometown.

For some, the Rocket’s forceful denials are only cementing their support for the superstar.

But not everyone is convinced.

In a KHOU.com poll, around 32 percent of voters believe Brian McNamee’s story over Clemens’.

McNamee told Mitchell report investigators he injected Clemens with steroids and HGH about 16-to-21 times during 1998, 2000 and 2001.

“Denial is not just a river in Egypt! Or, from the Bard himself: “Thou dost protest too much,’” one commenter said.

“The more he denies this, the more guilty he looks. It is getting to the point of being pathetic,” another said.

But perhaps the biggest problem for Clemens and McNamee is there is no proof to back either one of them.  It’s all he said-he said.

Because of that, we may never know what really happened.
