11:30 AM CST on Saturday, January 5, 2008
Rice University announced Friday that it is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the whereabouts of Matthew Wilson, an undergraduate computer science student who has been missing since Dec. 14.

“We have pursued several leads, interviewed many people and worked almost on a daily basis with the news media to get information about Matthew out to the public, but so far his whereabouts remain unknown,” Rice Police Chief Bill Taylor said. “We’re hoping the reward helps involve more people who may have seen Matthew and can help us find him.”
Crime Stoppers of Houston has already offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to felony charges in the case. That has produced a few leads that so far have not proven successful.
Wilson, 20, was last seen by his roommate at their off-campus apartment. The search intensified after Wilson, a good student with no record of problems, failed to turn in his final exams by the deadline for fall semester.
His car, a silver 2004 four-door Dodge Neon with Oklahoma license plate 863 MCZ, is missing. Wilson is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 135 pounds, and has red hair and green eyes. He had a full beard when last seen.
Anyone with information should call the Rice University Police Department at 713-348-6000 or contact Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS.
