Delay in reopening Beltway 8 ramp to 59

The Beltway 8 overpass to U.S. 59 South at the Eastex Freeway will likely not reopen until Thursday afternoon at the earliest, the Texas Department of Transportation said Wednesday morning.
It had originally been scheduled to reopen at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
TxDOT crews are still working on a huge hole left in the overpass when an 18-wheeler dumped its load on the road.
A heavy piece of machinery punched through the ramp.
The driver of the truck was cited for failing to secure his load.
