A Crime Stoppers tip is being credited for the arrest of two people in the death of a retired teacher from Fulshear.

Angela A. Lara, 24, of Victoria, and Kevin Chase Cypher, 19, of Houston are in jail charged with murder.

Bond for each is set at $1 million.

It is suspected the pair robbed and killed Martha Fields last week.
Fields, 54, was stabbed during a robbery in the gated community of Weston Lakes.

“The suspects went through the house. From the statements they made, they were apparently looking for money,” said Fort Bend County Sheriff Milton Wright.

Wright said the pair was specifically looking for $500,000 that was supposedly locked in a safe at the home.

“We don’t know where they got that information," said Wright, calling the thought of that large sum of money in the home as incorrect information.

Wright believes when the robbers figured out that there was no money, someone stabbed Fields several times out of frustration and anger.

“I believe it was mistaken information at this point, in that, the suspects believed there was a large sum of money in that house," said Wright.

Lara is believed to have been driving a getaway car while Cypher played an active role in the robbery, said Wright.

The sheriff’s office is searching for a third person.  That person was described as a person of interest or a possible suspect.

News of the arrests came on the day Fields was being laid to rest.
