Horn death threat caught on tape

A Pasadena man who shot and killed two men who were burglarizing his neighbor’s home last month has been receiving death threats, one of which was caught on tape.

An anonymous phone call was placed to the District Attorney’s Integrity Division around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

The call was a strongly worded threat against Joe Horn.

“You better indict Joe Horn, and you better find him guilty. Because if you don’t, somebody is gonna kill him on the outside, and if he go to prison he gonna be killed on the inside … We waiting on him in prison, and we waiting on him on the outside,” the caller said.

Joe Horn’s attorney had no reaction at all to the threat.

The threat comes just days after preliminary autopsy reports indicated that at least one of the men Horn shot was shot in the back.

Ever since the incident, rowdy protests and heated debate have flooded Horn’s once-quiet Pasadena neighborhood.

But moves have been made to prevent future demonstrations.

The City of Pasadena on Tuesday will consider an ordinance that would ban protesters from targeting an individual’s home.

But is it constitutional?

“The question in this case is not ‘is the ordinance on its face constitutional,’ the question will be ‘will it be applied in a constitutional way,” 11 News legal expert Gerald Treece said.

“In other words, the ordinance itself says let’s protect residential privacy, but at the same time let people continue to have their demonstrations.  But if too much discretion is given to law enforcement, then it turns into an invalid law,” Treece said.

If the ordinance passes a first reading, it will go to a second.  If it passes that, it could become law.
