Everett discharged from hospital
04:51 PM CST on Sunday, November 18, 2007
Injured Buffalo Bills player Kevin Everett has been discharged from Memorial Hermann.
Everett has been receiving treatment since he sustained a critical injury in the Bill’s season opener Sept. 9.
“I was fortunate to meet many extraordinary people at Memorial Herman/TIRR – many who have suffered the same or similar injury as myself, many of whom I now consider friends. Their courage and determination inspired me to fight every day for recovery of my ability to walk,” Everett said in a statement released Sunday.

Immediately after his injury, Everett was paralyzed from the neck down, and doctors feared he would never walk again.
The prognosis changed a few days later when Everett began showing voluntary movement first in his legs and then his hands.
Everett was transferred to Houston because doctors felt it was important for him to be close to his family and friends. The player makes his offseason home in Houston and grew up in nearby Port Arthur, Texas.
“ I will continue to receive rehabilitation treatment from the physicians and physical therapists at Memorial Hermann|TIRR on an outpatient basis. While this news is a significant milestone for me, I still have a long journey to full recovery,” Everett said.
Everett expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported him through his journey thus far.
“To my fans: Thank you for your loyalty. To my doctors and physical therapists: Thank you for keeping me healthy and strong. To my friends and family: Thank you for your unwavering love and support. Until next time,” he said.
