The prosecution will call one more witness to the stand in the trial of former TSU president Dr. Priscilla Slade before resting their case Thursday.
Since the trial began more than a month ago, prosecutors have put witness after witness on the stand. Each has testified that Slade spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of the school's money on herself.
On Wednesday, the prosecution called a former TSU president and a woman who is a current general counsel for the university to the stand.
The general counsel took the stand first. She was the assistant general counsel during Slade’s tenure. She testified that Slade never came to her to ask what she could or could not use TSU money for, but she said Slade did ask for an option to increase her housing allowance over the $4,000 figure a month that was already in her contract.
The defense did not cross examine this witness.
Next up was James Douglas, who was president at the university from 1995-1999. He told the court about his contract, and prosecutors compared it to Slade’s.
The defense has countered that Slade did nothing wrong, because she often hosted TSU fundraising parties.
If she’s convicted, she could face probation or life in prison.
