Tropical depression forms in the Gulf

11:14 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 25, 2007

KHOU.com staff report

Dr. Neil Frank tracks the weather system in the Gulf.

A tropical depression formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico Tuesday and appears to be headed towards Mexico.

Tropical Depression No. 13 should be no threat to this area, but for those living in Tampico; the weather system could become a real rainmaker.

That’s because most of the computer models suggest the depression will slowly make its way toward land, collecting plenty of moisture along the way.

The National Hurricane Center predicts the depression could become the season’s 12th named storm in the next few days, but it is not expected to become a hurricane.
