04:34 PM CDT on Wednesday, May 30, 2007
GALVESTON - As the runoff from a week of rain makes it way to the Gulf, it could make for a nasty weekend along the coast.
The runoff is carrying fecal bacteria from farm animals downstream to the beaches in Galveston.
The Galveston County Health Department said it posted advisories today along nine popular beaches between 31st and 60th streets behind the seawall.
The following locations have advisories posted as of Wednesday:
*San Luis Resort
*Beach Plaza Shopping Center
*60th Street Beach
*57th Street Beach
*Fort Crockett Seawall Park West
*Fort Crockett Seawall Park (45th St)
*39th Street
*35th Street
*31st & 32nd Street Beach
The beaches are not closed, said Kurt Koopman, Galveston County Health Department spokesman, but swimmers are warned to watch out if they have cuts of open wounds.
