Small storms leave a mess

A strong line of thunderstorms dropped hail in parts of the Houston area, knocked out power and cause minor delays at the city’s two airports.

By 7 p.m. though the worst had passed and all severe weather warnings had been lifted. But not before dropping hail, rain and uprooting trees.

A strong line of storms dumped rain and hail. Power was knocked out for 5,900 customers as well.

In fact, golf-sized hail has already been reported in Pasadena, marble-sized hail fell in Santa Fe. By late afternoon reports of hail along the Gulf Freeway and Hardy tollroad made for a tough drive-home commute.

In Deer Park weather damage has been reported.

Residents there are dealing with high water and uprooted trees.

Quick moving storms uprooted trees, knocked out power, downed fences and dropped hail in some parts of the area Monday.

Golf ball sized hail was also reported in Deer Park while marble sized hail was reported in Santa Fe.

There are also scattered power outages across the area. CenterPoint Energy said at it speak about 7,000 customers were without power. By 10 p.m. that number had been lowered to 600, which is about average for the city.

The Houston Airport System reported delays at Hobby and Bush Intercontinental airports. Most of the delays were 15 minutes or less.
