Nestled between the hustle and bustle of the fourth largest city in the country lies a small pocket of a city called Piney Point Village.

It’s here where a battle is brewing over who’s moving in next door.

To say the neighbors are upset is an understatement.

“It has come as such a bolt out of the blue that it’s really been a shocker,” neighbor Karey Bresenhan said.

A shock to find out their new neighbor is not going to be a family, but an entity – City Hall to be exact.

“That, to me, was just mind-boggling,” Bresenhan said.

The City of Piney Point Village plans to move into this $1.5 million mansion.

The City of Piney Point Village is moving into a $1.5 million mansion – complete with its own swimming pool, six bedrooms and six and a half baths.

“It doesn’t sound practical to me at all. I just can’t imagine buying a residential property to use for conducting municipal business,” neighbor Ed Hess said.

“I see this as government running rampant, I see this as government not for the people, but for their convenience,” Bresenhan said.

Bresenhan lives just a stone’s throw away from the future City Hall.

She figures her property value will drop 30 percent once the new neighbors get settled in.

Other residents have issues with security – and the potential of added traffic.

Currently, the six full-time city hall employees are working elsewhere.

“I’m sure there are thousands and thousands of square office feet available that would have served their needs,” neighbor Mike Johnson said.
