Cinco de Mayo celebrations and parades

A collection of some of the Cinco de Mayo events scheduled for today.

Children's Museum

Cinco de May Wonder Weekend

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

1500 Binz Street in Houston

 

Houston parade

10 a.m.

Texas and Hamilton downtown

League of United Latin American Citizens showcase cultural arts in the parade followed by the Puertas del Arte festival from noon-5 p.m. today, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet.

Parade route

 

Texas City parade and festival

10 a.m.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will travel north on Sixth Street to Ninth Avenue North and end at the Rotary Pavilion behind city hall. The festival will begin after the parade to 8 p.m. There will be music, entertainment, booths, food and games. The Ballet Folklorico Fiesta Mexicana at the Rotary Pavilion, 2010 Fifth Ave. N. in Texas City.

Fort Bend County

Hispanic Heritage Foundation Cinco de Mayo celebration

Knights of Columbus Hall

1007 Kay Cee in Rosenberg

12 p.m. to 11 p.m. today

Includes local entertainers, contests, arts and crafts, barbecue cookoff and Big Boyz Toys car show.

Houston Cinco de Mayo festival

3 p.m. today

Miller Outdoor Theatre

100 Concert drive

Admission: Free

Comité Patriótico Mexicano presents a celebration featuring Beto Beto, La Onda, Las Fenix, Control, Los Viejitos de Michoacán and Ballet Teotihuacan.

 

Galveston

O-Connell Consolidated High School Cinco de Mayo Fest at 11 a.m. today at the school, 1320 Tremont St. in Galveston. A car show will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Professional wrestling by LAX, Heidenreich and The Texas Divas will take place at 7:30 p.m. Call (409) 765-5534.

 

Elks Lodge/LULAC Cinco de Mayo celebration

The Elks Lodge No. 126 Auxiliary and LULAC No. 151 of Galveston have partnered to observe Cinco de Mayo with a fajita dinner at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge at 1518 Tremont in Galveston. The Ball High School Hispanic Dance group members will perform at 7 p.m. Jaime Casares will deejay. Phone: (409) 502-8995.
