The child’s father, Camden Gothia, was in court.
He and two grandmothers were given permission to visit the baby in the hospital.

Father of baby whose genitals were mutilated wipes away tear as he talks about his son's condition.
Gothia said he visited his son Friday. Those visits are monitored. “I’ll take whatever I can get. Of course I’d rather have unrestricted visitation so that I can be there and pray for the best.”
The child’s mother was not in court nor did she visit her son.
Gothia's attorney said she is receiving inpatient treatment, but didn't say for what.
The child, who was taken off a ventilator, is under the care of Child Protective Services.
Gothia said his son is doing better day by day.
He is staying by the child as much as possible.
From the beginning, the child’s mother told investigators that the family dog attacked her baby.
But doctors say the injuries are not consistent with a dog bite.
So far no charges have been filed.
Police are looking into evidence of drug abuse in the home.
Meanwhile, one of the boy's aunts, Gothia's sister, is seeking temporary custody of the child.
