A fallen soldier from The Woodlands was laid to rest Monday.

Private First Class Cory Kosters, 19, died March 5 along with five other soldiers in Samarra.

His Humvee was hit by an improvised explosive device.
Kosters was a member of the 82nd Airborne and a graduate of the Woodlands High School.
On Monday dozens gathered at the Crossroads Main Worship Center in The Woodlands at 10 a.m. to honor this local hero.
The morning service included a tribute to a young life that was cut short.
PFC Cory Kosters was buried at the National Cemetery in Houston.
People, waving flags, lined the road as PFC Kosters' procession made its way towards his final resting place.
At one point the hearses stopped so someone in the soldier’s family could thank them.
The Patriot Guard Riders escorted the funeral procession.
John Darner is among the riders. “The whole state of Texas is very patriotic and we all appreciate the sacrifice that our fallen heroes made for us.”
He is the 69th Houston area military man to be killed in Iraq.
A college scholarship fund has been set up in his honor.
