10:08 AM CST on Thursday, March 1, 2007
AUSTIN—Some Houston legislators have proposed a three-day sales tax holiday for items used to get ready for hurricane season.
It would be scheduled for the first weekend of June.
Parts of the Gulf coast were slammed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
The hurricane prep weekend would be similar to the state’s three-day back-to-school sales tax holiday in August
Republican Senator Dan Patrick and democratic Senator Rodney Ellis announced the proposal.
