The thieves seem to be getting away with the crimes.

The gym is located in the 14000 block of the Southwest Freeway.

Officials say that offers crooks a swift escape.

Last year 37 car break-ins were reported at the gym, and already this year there have been five, some in broad daylight.

The most recent happened Thursday when someone smashed out the rear window of a Honda Pilot and snatched a woman’s purse.

Jennifer O’Brien was still inside working out when the thief went on a shopping spree with her credit card.

“I think they watch to see if women go in witghout their purses and then if you do go in without your purse they look in the car and if they see it they smash it and go, and they went right down the street to Sharptown mall and spent close to a $1,000 at Macys.”

Sugar Land police said they’re working on a plan to combat the problem and that it will include a message for car owners not to leave valuables in their vehicles.
