More changes at Texas Southern University. Basketball Coach Ronnie Courtney and his staff have been fired.

The Tigers have fired basketball coach Ronnie Courtney and his staff.

Courtney was hired seven years ago after leading the Willowridge High School Basketball team to back to back 5A State championships.

You may recall the teams included future NBA players T.J. Ford and Daniel Ewing.

During his years at Texas Southern, Courtney posted a 76-99 record, but made four trips to the SWAC Championship Tournament.

His 2002-2003 team advanced to the NCAA Tournament which played UNC-Asheville.

Assistant Coaches John Howie and Keith Berard were also fired.

In a statement Athletic Director Alois Blackwell commented, "Courtney did a good job for us here. However, we believe that it's time to move in a different direction under new leadership."

Blackwell says a search for a new coach will begin immediately.
