Schools on lockdown after chase suspect escapes

Two HISD elementary school were on lockdown Wednesday morning while deputies searched for a suspect wanted in a stabbing.

Precinct 6 deputies say it started when the suspect stabbed someone who caught him breaking into a vehicle.
The vehicle was in a parking lot across the street from Austin High School.
The suspect took off and deputies followed.
After a brief chase, he crashed near Canal and Lenox in southeast Houston and took off on foot.
Two nearby elementary schools, Tijerina and Burness, were put on lockdown while deputies searched for the man.
The lockdowns were later lifted.
The suspect was later arrested while walking near the scene. Police believe Josue Aurioles, 20, is responsible for a series of car burglaries near Austin High School.
