Mayor White wants Tollett out of GHCVB
07:13 PM CST on Wednesday, November 1, 2006
Houston’s mayor has taken another step toward ousting the city’s colorful convention and tourism chief.
Mayor White has made it clear he’d like to see Jordy Tollett leave the city’s Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, although we haven’t been told exactly why.
Tollett had recently taken a leave of absence after he was spotted drinking during business hours.
Now the mayor is asking the bureau’s chairman to hire an executive search firm.
Tollett is popular among tourism officials who say he’s done a good job filling Houston hotel rooms.
But the mayor holds the purse strings over much of the Bureau’s budget.
