Adam Williams was caught late Wednesday night.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, Adam Williams was spotted late Thursday under the San Jacinto Bridge near I-45, walking on the railroad tracks.
When two TABC agents saw him, they waved and he started running.
Agents from multiple agencies went on a full-scale search when the men lost track of him, and eventually a helicopter with heat-seeking technology was used.
Williams was found 30 feet up in a tree and when asked to come down, started cutting his wrists with a pocket knife, officials said.
He eventually came down and was examined by medical personnel. He was taken back to Montgomery County Jail.
He has been charged with escape and faces a $300,000 bond.
The guard at the hospital realized Williams was missing around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
He had been in the Montgomery County jail since Sept. 1 on a weapon’s charge. Authorities said he has a lengthy criminal record.
The deputy lost sight of him as he ran from the emergency room. The off-duty deputy wasn't aware that Williams was a prisoner.
Officials said he has an extensive record, including burglaries, credit card abuse, evading arrest and escape.
