Investigators with the new HPD Gang Murder Squad say they've linked 11 Katrina evacuees to a string of violent crime in Houston. Eight of them are in custody but police are still searching for the other three.

Police are especially anxious to find Ivroy Harris who goes by the nickname "B-stupid."

Police say the men are suspects in at least nine Houston murders and two in Pasadena. All of the victims were also Katrina evacuees.

The 11 suspects are also wanted for at least seven other violent crimes including aggravated assaults, armed robberies and carjackings. Many of those victims were non-evacuees.

All of the crimes took place between November and January.

Police are hoping the public can help them nab the three remaining suspects.

"The safety of the city of Houston, the citizens and as well as some of the evacuees, depend on us arresting these individuals as soon as possible," said HPD Chief Harold Hurtt. "The Houston Police Department is taking on violent offenders and when we find them, we are going to lock them up."

They're especially anxious to find Ivroy Harris, 22, who goes by the nickname "B-stupid." Police describe him as very dangerous.

"He is a very, very, violent individual and is critical to our investigation," said HPD Capt. Dale Brown.

Harris is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping and suspected of murder.

Police are also searching for Terrence Richards, left, and Travis Jordan.

The other two suspects still on the loose are 23-year-old Travis Jordan, charged with aggravated robbery, and 22-year-old Terrence Richards, wanted for allegedly evading detention in a Webster case.

"We need to get these people off the streets as soon as possible," said Chief Hurtt.

The following suspects are in custody and charged:

•Kalvin Forcell: Charged with murder in a fatal shooting at 9373 Richmond Avenue on November 20, 2005

•Alvin Sims: Charged with capital murder in a fatal shooting of two Louisiana men at 8901 Bissonnet on December

31, 2005

•Jason McMaster: Charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping

•Cornelius Gordon: Charged with engaging in organized crime and possession of a weapon

•Daryl Robinson: Charged with murder in a fatal shooting at 11555 Bissonnet on December 25, 2005

•Tyler Mackyeon: Charged with deadly conduct and aggravated robbery

•James Taylor: Charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

•Keith Ron Williams: Charged with assault-family violence

Investigators say the suspects and victims lived in rival housing projects in New Orleans. They say the rivalry goes back for generations and was probably the motive for many of the murders.

Now, many have settled at apartment complexes in southwest Houston where their neighbors are living in fear.

One of them is Mindy Eugene. She's proud to say she's from Louisiana but quick to point out she's not from New Orleans.

"I hear it on TV all the time and I'm so sick of it. We never had the problem back home. We never lived in New Orleans," complained Eugene. "We never had crime in our area. I'm sick of hearing it."

Eugene is angry to hear that fellow evacuees are responsible for the crime.

"My children don't come outside to play. We inside -- that's it," said Mindy Eugene.

"Me with four kids -- I don't feel safe at all. We all stay locked inside," agreed Dawn Moseley, who also lives in a southwest Houston apartment complex.

The Gang Murder Squad was recently created to investigate various homicides in Houston believed related to gang activity. Investigators assigned to the squad analyzed some cases in the southwest Houston area and began to realize many of them were connected, whether it be by victims, suspects, or other means.

If you have any information about the suspects, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
