Dramatic video was released late Thursday showing the scene of a Metro
light rail accident that injured two people and pinned a van against a
light pole. KHOU-TV A van was pinned to a light pole after it was struck by a Metro light rail train.
The video was recorded on board the train and it shows the train colliding with a van at University and Fannin.
The accident happened during rush hour and caused quite a mess. The video shows the train as it's headed south on Fannin as it collides with a van that was dragged more than 100 feet before being pinned against a steel light pole.
The driver had been traveling alongside the train when it turned left in front of it.
No one on the train was hurt, but the woman driver and one woman passenger, who is confined to a wheelchair, were both injured, one seriously.
"It was a huge crash, just an unbelievable sound," said witness Hani Barazi.
Thursday's accident is the 73rd Metro rail collision since the train began operating just before the Super Bowl last year.
