Apple to debut new Macs on Oct. 27

SAN FRANCISCO — Apple plans to hold an event on Oct. 27 to unveil long awaited updated to the Mac line-up in time for the holiday shopping season, according to published reports.

The updates will be the first major ones since 2015. Apple announced new iPhones and Apple Watches last month. According to Bloomberg, Apple will unveil new versions of the iMac desktop, MacBook Air laptop, a thinner MacBook Pro laptop and a 5K standalone monitor in collaboration with LG Electronics.

The event is expected to take place at or near Apple's Cupertino, Calif., campus, reported technology news outlet Recode.

Apple had originally planned to release earnings on Oct. 27. Instead it will report quarterly results on Oct. 25.

Apple could not be immediately reached for comment.
