When purchasing a new home, it's fairly simple to determine whether the property has termite problems or bad water pressure. But how can you tell if the home was ever the scene of a crime?
A website recently started by two brother was designed to do exactly that.
According to news station KSDK, the site allows the user to enter an address and quickly find out whether a serious crime was ever committed at that location. Started about a year ago, HouseCreep.com contains a database of 20,000 homes and apartments across North America at which a murder, suicide, arson, marijuana cultivation or methamphetamine lab ever occurred.
In addition to checking on properties, users can also submit information about homes to the site.
Real estate agents say if the information is accurate, buyers could utilize it as a tool during negotiations.
