HOUSTON – Houston Texans 3rd round pick Louis Nix III was back on the practice field Tuesday, his first action of Training Camp.
Nix had arthroscopic knee surgery last month.
The defensive tackle out of Notre Dame was limited during the morning practice, but head coach Bill O'Brien is happy to have him back on the field.
"It's really trying to ease him back into things because he's been out for a while," O'Brien said. "It's a matter of getting him back in football shape, getting him some work in pads and not throwing him right back in there for 50 reps in a practice."
Nix was not allowed to speak to the media after practice. O'Brien indicated that despite not having much practice time, the rookie could see action during the team's second preseason game.
"I think that he'll be able to do some things against Atlanta," O'Brien said. "But again, let's see how he is right now after practice and then I'll know better in the morning."
The Texans and Falcons have joint practices this week before their game on Saturday.
