HUMBLE – Rodney Anderson scored two touchdowns in the first half and the Katy Tigers cruised to a 31-0 victory over Kingwood in the opener for both teams.

Despite fumbling twice early in the game, Anderson completely changed the momentum of the game with a 67 yard punt return for a score in the 2nd quarter. He had 46 rushing yards.

Kyle Porter chipped in 50 yards on 10 carries. The Tigers rushed for a combined 136 yards in the game.

Kingwood was unable to move the ball much on the Katy defense. The Mustangs only totaled 120 yards of offense on the evening, most of which came in the second half.

Sophomore Cory Bethley had 3 sacks in the first half and created all sorts of problems for Kingwood.

Katy QB Garrett Doiron was sharp in the first start of the season going 10-15 with 183 yards and a touchdown to Tony Mullins.

Sewo Olonilua had 77 yards for the Mustangs.

Katy will face FB Travis in their second game. Kingwood takes on Klein Collins in Week 2.
