HOUSTON -- A big rig driver said his truck hydroplaned, resulting in a crash along the North Freeway early Friday morning.
Houston TranStar reported the crash in the southbound lanes near the Hardy Toll Road around 3:30 a.m.
The driver told KHOU 11 News he hit a slick spot, crashing the truck into a concrete barrier. Another vehicle came along and hit the big rig.
The jack-knifed 18-wheeler landed on top of a concrete barrier and all the oil came out of the oil pan.
The accident and oil clean up shut down the entire southbound feeder road and a couple of main lanes for several hours near the Hardy Toll Road.
The big rig driver told us the crash scared him and he apologized for causing all the traffic headaches.
"I managed to go from one side, one side of the highway, all the way over here, onto the median over there. I was lucky. I thought I was dead already," Terrence Carn said.
"I know the citizens are not happy, but nothing I could do about it."
There were no serious injuries reported.
