AUSTIN -- Police have charged a man with intoxication manslaughter in connection with a crash that left one woman dead and another injured on Sunday.
Police said 22-year-old Carlos Ruben Limones-Ortega was driving a white truck that swerved and went over a guard rail in the 10100 block of South Interstate 35.
According to an arrest affidavit, a 911 caller told police the truck was swerving and nearly hit a barricade before crashing and flipping.
Police said Limones-Ortega and a passenger were injured and taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge. Another woman, who was a passenger in the backseat, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The affidavit said Limones-Ortego told police that he and the two women had been in San Marcos floating the river for several hours and that he had drank a six-pack of beer and Malibu rum.
After police conducted sobriety tests, Limones-Ortega's blood alcohol level was .119. The legal limit is .08.
