GALVESTON, Texas — An island elementary school is reviewing security procedures after a 5-year-old student left the cafeteria and walked home alone during lunch Thursday.

Debra Turner said she lives just down the street from Coastal Village Primary at Rosenberg Elementary, 721 10th St., where her daughter makes the three-minute walk to kindergarten classes under adult supervision in the morning.

The child came home at about noon and said she left the cafeteria by herself before walking home in the rain, Turner said.
