Firefighters battling the blaze in southeast Houston
Firefighters battled a stubborn 4-alarm warehouse fire in South Houston until the late afternoon Tuesday. It started around 11:30 a.m. and at the height, heavy black smoke could be seen for miles.
The converted warehouse on Perez St. housed some eight businesses. Workers tried to save what they could, even using a forklift to haul out pallets of supplies, furniture, toys and other items. Las Tres BBB is a construction material company and the lumber and wood products inside helped fuel the flames.
Kenia Martinez works next door to the ware house said, "They were bringing out all the doors and all that stuff they took a big tool truck that one over there the took everything they could."
Belinda Gonzalez owns Tienda El Salvador and was clearly upset, "Nothing, nothing it's all gone." Several business owners we spoke with do not have insurance.
Thanks to mutual, least 6 fire departments are assisted South Houston is tackling the fire. At last word, there were no injuries.
