HOUSTON -- A female jogger found a man's body in the esplanade of Heights Boulevard early Thursday.
Houston police were called to the scene just north of I-10 around 5 a.m.
Police said the jogger found the body as she got water from a nearby drinking fountain. When she spotted the man and saw his chest wasn't moving, she ran down the street to get an officer's attention.
The cause of death was not immediately determined, but homicide investigators were called to the scene to look it over. They said there were signs of trauma on the man's body, which was found under a couple of benches.
"There's some indication that this may not have been an accident or natural death," HPD Sgt. Hector Garcia said. "The preliminary observations don't indicate any weapon, or any shots or stab wounds that we can tell at this time."
