HOUSTON – Heavy rain came pouring down and lightning lit up the sky as severe weather moved through the Houston area Monday evening.

Investigators believe lightning sparked a fire at a home on Lymbar at Mullins around 8:30 p.m.

The lightning bolt hit the middle of the home, setting the attic on fire. The fire then spread across the ceiling of the entire house.

There was no word on any injuries.

Around 13,800 homes were without power Monday night, according to CenterPoint.
