HOUSTON -- A man was taken into custody after he allegedly caused a disturbance and stole three beers from a Taco Cabana, Houston police said.

It happened at the restaurant on Yale just south of the Katy Freeway around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Employees told officers that the man came into the restaurant and put up a fight when he was asked to leave due to the store's "no shirt, no shoes, no service" policy. The man allegedly grabbed a broomstick, swinging it around and threatening the workers.

The suspect then took three beers and fled, witnesses said.

Officers driving by the store saw workers running outside, and they managed to find the suspect hiding behind a car in the nearby Walmart parking lot.

The man was taken into custody without further incident.
