HOUSTON – A woman was shot and killed by her boyfriend Wednesday afternoon in southeast Houston after attempting to move out of their residence, according to investigators.
A SWAT standoff took place just after 2:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Fellows Road. It lasted for more than an hour.
A relative called 911, and said a woman had been shot at least five times. She stated the suspect was the victim's boyfriend.
"She came with a U-Haul to move out of the residence," said HPD spokesman John Cannon.
The victim and her daughter and another relative were home at the time. Two others were able to escape.
"He told the daughter that if she didn't leave he was going to shoot her too," said Trinity Armstead, the victim's cousin.
More than two dozen officers were on the scene negotiating with the suspect. The suspect committed suicide, according to police.
The woman was found dead inside the home.
