HOUSTON -- Houston police said they were forced to shoot an armed suspect stopped in a stolen truck late Wednesday.

Around 10:15 p.m. a two-officer patrol unit attempted to stop a Chevrolet pickup on Airline. The truck didn't stop for several blocks, police said.

Officers said as they approached the truck, the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at them. Both officers opened fire, shooting and killing the man who was still sitting inside the truck.

The vehicle was later determined to be stolen in Harris County.

Houston police and Harris County deputies are investigating the incident.
