HOUSTON -- At least three smash-and-grab robberies were attempted in the Houston area overnight into Wednesday morning, police said.
Around 3:15 a.m. security cameras captured a small SUV backing into the Gulf fuel station on Tidwell at Bean. The vehicle repeatedly backed into the store but never fully made it inside. One person jumped out and ran away while two others sped away in the SUV.
Around the same time, another group of suspects backed a pickup into the Shell gas station on Stuebner at Gossling. The tried to take the ATM machine but failed – instead, they grabbed what little cash was in the store's register.
And around 3:30 a.m. a pickup was used to smash into the front doors of the CVS on Crosstimbers at the North Freeway. The crash caused massive damage, but someone driving by scared away the suspects, who apparently left empty-handed.
