CONROE, Texas – A 9-year-old girl, who was an innocent bystander, was wounded after an argument escalated into a shooting Sunday in Conroe, police said.
According to the Conroe Police Department, it happened before 9 p.m. at the Tall Timbers Apartments in the 1100 block of South Seventh Street.
At that time, police responded to a call of a disturbance with weapons. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that an argument between three males had escalated into a shooting.
Police said one of the males a pulled out a gun and fired numerous shots at the victim.
A 9-year-old girl, who had gone to the window to look outside after hearing the males argue, was hit by one of the bullets fired by the suspect, police said.
The child, who was hit in the leg, was taken to an area hospital. On Monday, investigators said she was in good condition.
The suspect fled the area, but officers were able to locate him, who was identified as a 16-year-old, police said.
The suspect was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct. There were no other reported injuries.
