HOUSTON – One man is in custody after a short police chase led to a crash near the West Loop early Sunday in west Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, it started around 1 a.m. when an officer tried to stop an SUV heading north on the West Loop. The driver decided to flee instead of pulling over.
The suspect driver took the San Felipe exit and then crashed over a curb under the Loop, police said. He popped three of his tires during the crash.
He then tried to make a U-turn onto the southbound service road when he eventually stopped, police said.
Officers then took him into custody. Police are unsure if alcohol played a role in the actions of the driver, but that man will face felony evading charges.
