HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Police in Huntsville say DNA helped them solve an 11-month-old rape case.

Robert Daniel Rodriguez, 29, is charged with sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping in the September 2013 case.

His DNA matched a sample in CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) submitted by Huntsville investigators on August 5, 2014.

Rodriguez also closely matched a composite sketch by a Texas DPS artist.

The victim told police she accepted a ride home from the suspect after they met at a local nightclub.

Instead of taking her home, she said Rodriguez drove to another location and used a stun gun on her when she tried to escape. He then sexually assaulted her.

Rodriguez was arrested earlier this week and remains in the Walker County Jail.
