HOUSTON -- Police are searching for at least four suspects after a deadly shooting at a complex in West Houston.
The shooting happened just before 4 a.m. Monday at the Avalon at Royal Oaks in the 2600 block of Southlake Drive near South Kirkwood Road.
Police said a woman was inside with her boyfriend when a group of men kicked down the door and demanded money.
"They were wearing masks at the time" said John Parker, with the Houston Police Department. "They left on foot, so it's unclear if they had a vehicle in the area or not."
Police are not saying what the men took, or why they chose that particular apartment. Some neighbors said off-camera that that section of the complex has a history of drug dealing.
Resident Tanaka Hillsman said there is always a commotion.
"I never come outside unless I leave," she said. "It's always loud."
An investigation is now underway.
