HOUSTON - A police chase resulted in a theft suspect getting shot in the leg Friday evening in northwest Houston.

Around 9:30 p.m., Harris County deputies received a 911 call about a group of men stealing a pickup truck at Alabonson Road and Gulf Bank. The officers arrived in time to see the truck leaving.

When a deputy attempted to pull the truck over, the driver led police on a short chase ending at a dead end on Bayou Forest.

The deputy got out of his car and fearing for his life, pulled his weapon and fired at the driver, hitting the window. The driver rammed the police car, and four males jumped out and ran on foot. The deputy shot one suspect in the leg, but they all initially got away.

The suspects attempted to hide at a relative's house but they called 911 concerning the gun shot wound. When police responded, the man was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition.

Deputies arrested the remaining three suspects and the fourth will be taken into custody when he leaves the hospital.
