HOUSTON Air 11 was live on the scene Friday when an injured crane operator was rescued 200 feet in the air in the Galleria area.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. in the 1400 block of Post Oak Boulevard.

The worker slipped as he was coming down the protected ladder and was 'seriously injured' atop the crane. Four firefighters climbed to the top of the crane.

He fell about 10 feet to a platform and he had some injuries, said firefighter Michael Whitmire. He was able to talk to us.

The victim was placed in a basket and lowered slowly to the ground. HFD Rescue Firefighter Kevin Mathison was by his side the entire way.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Ben Taub Hospital. The entire rescue took about 30 minutes.
