SAN ANTONIO -- A 5-year-old lesser ape at the San Antonio Zoo had quite the adventure Thursday.

Jude, a White Cheek Gibbon, got out of his closure around 8 a.m., Libby Castillo with the San Antonio Zoo said. The zoo immediately closed off the exhibit area.

Zookeepers also surrounded the area to keep it secure, Castillo said. Jude tried to get back to his family but couldn't figure out how.

The zookeepers left the door to his enclosure open until he figured it out, Castillo said. He finally got back in around 4 p.m., safe and unharmed.

There is no word if his parents, who also live at the zoo, grounded him.
