HOUSTON The Houston Rockets were on the practice floor when NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced a lifetime ban for Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

When they learned of the news afterwards, they all agreed it was the right decision.

I think it s good, I think that tape was disgusting and there s no room for that in the league, Rockets forward Chandler Parsons said. The NBA handled it the way they should.

The head coach felt the same way.

Adam is going to take care of what he has to do. It s an unfortunate situation, Kevin McHale said. It s terrible for the Clippers, for Doc and his team because it s just another distraction you don t need. Adam is going to do what s best for the league.

IN addition to being banned for life from all NBA activities, Sterling was fined the maximum amount of $2.5 million and the NBA Board of Governors will pursue action that would require for Sterling to sell the team.

Rockets center Dwight Howard, who spoke out against the comments on Sunday morning, did so again on Tuesday.

What Sterling did, he has his own views on life and everybody doesn t feel that way. What Adam Silver did was best for the NBA and our brand, Howard said. It shouldn t take a situation for us to stand up. Racism is wrong in any shape form or fashion and it doesn t matter the color.

Racism and hate and all that stuff, I feel like it shouldn t take an incident for people to stand together. I think we all have to be together at all times, Howard said. You know, any time anything goes wrong, that s when we want to stand up and stand out but I think as people we should always stand up and stand out in our everyday lives.

There s things that happen every day that we turn our faces from but when the situation arises we all want to come together and it s a big situation and it s right for all of us to come together, but we need to do this every day...for bullying, for violence we need to stand together and stand strong, Howard said.

The Rockets will take on the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 5 of their first round playoff series on Wednesday at 8:30 pm CT.
