SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Jessica Garcia said that on Jan. 19, 2014, a friend invited her to a sleepover at her house. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary -- the two would hang out with each other from time to time -- but this encounter was different. It turned violent.
Garcia told police her friend attacked her with repeated punches to the face while two teenage boys recorded the attack with a cell phone -- a video that ended up online for the world to see.
Photos taken after the attack captured Garcia's swollen lips and bruised face.
Garcia told KENS 5 that someone took her personal cellphone the night of the attack and that it's still missing.
The victim's parents filed a report with the San Antonio Police Department; however, so far, Garcia's alleged attacker has not been detained.
The suspected girl's mother told police she was in another room at the time of the attack, completely unaware of the assault taking place.
According to the police report, the mother also said that she's afraid of her 14-year-old daughter, who often brings friends over to the house.
Authorities said investigators are reviewing the cell phone video.
