MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas January 25th was a special day for the Texans as many celebrated the 175th anniversary of the Texas state flag.

The Texas flag was adopted on this date back in 1839. Montgomery County paid tribute to the local man who designed the flag, Dr. Charles Stewart. On Saturday, they unveiled a life size statue in his name.

Stewart s great-great-great-granddaughter, Pat Spackey was at the event.

Stewart was also Texas first secretary of state. There is also a lot symbolism behind the colors of the flag blue stands for loyalty, white for purity and red for bravery.
